Flutters ahoy! (17 weeks)

"I'm in 227 grams in weight, and my heart pumps 23 litres a day!"

For the past couple of days, I have felt soft twinges in my belly non-stop!! If it's the baby, it's one very active baby.

I keep trying to explain to David for me, it feels like when you have a very quick muscle spasm, or 'pulse' somewhere in your body, but very very light. Almost like someone flicking you with their fingers very quickly and very lightly. I can't really explain it to be anything else, so I'm almost positive it would be the baby reminding me it's getting cramped in there now!

I simply cannot explain how excited I feel every time I feel a potential movement. It honestly brings me back down to earth and to truly appreciate what an absolute joy it is to be in the position I'm in. I'm so thankful I will get to be a mummy very soon!

My weekly update report that I received today (about what is happening with me this week in pregnancy) says the baby is 19cm long. 19cm!!! I just can't get over it.

On the good side, I am still wearing all of my own clothes. The only adjustment so far is me undoing the top button of my pants to make it a little more comfortable, but I guess the baby is just growing into my existing belly!

Time so fast (16w;2d)

"I can suck, swallow and blink!"

I got a call from David Jones last night to tell me all of the items I had ordered had come into stock! Very exciting. I'll be heading out that way tomorrow to sign up for everything adn it should be delivered sometime next week.

We also bought a new car - an '02 Mazda 323 Protege. Definitely needed to trade in one of our two door cars in order to get by! We pick it up on Wednesday after the RACV inspection is done on Monday.

My belly is getting a little harder now although I am still wearing all of my same clothes. No huge belly as yet - still hidden but I can definitely feel it there when I'm lying down. Hopefully it's a good sign I'm not having a huge baby... but who knows, these things are always so unpredictable!

Feeling tired again of late - seems to come in swings and roundabouts which is knocking me around a bit. Still, I'm not complaining and wouldn't change it for the world - it's all for a good cause!

Heartbeat magic! (14w;5d)

I've just come back from my 14w appointment with the obstetrician. Unfortunately, her rooms had flooded from a fault airconditioner, and she was late after being in surgery all morning, so after sitting for 45 minutes in wet-carpet smelling waiting rooms, we got to see her!

All was well. My blood pressure is fine, uterus is growing well and we got to hear the baby's heartbeat again, nice and strong. Always a reassuring feeling (although those first 30 seconds where she's trying to find the baby to get the heartbeat are a bit tense, but once we found out where it was lying... my... what a wonderful sound.

I now have to book in for a 19 week scan, and then see her a few days afterwards.

It's November already, you say? (14w;1d)

"I can move my hands, and I love sucking my thumb"

I'm going through a crisis at work... being, I don't want to! I sit here most of the day just wanting to spend most of my time at home looking at baby things and researching everything I can get my hands on.

I'm starting to feel better recently which is good. Not as 'bone-aching' tired as what I have been over the past couple of months. I'm still tired, but not as bad as I have been in the past which is a good sign. My belly isn't showing much sign of heading out at the moment (although it's hidden by the belly I already have, I'm sure!) but no doubt that will come shortly.

Since my last post, I have ocassionally felt some more flutters in my tummy when lying down. Definitely the same feeling I had in the car that time, so I'll have to continue to keep an eye out for it. It's really early though, so I'm not stressed about it at this stage - more likely that I'll be feeling it properly in a couple of weeks or so.

My next obstetrician appointment is on Monday which I am very much looking forward to. Silly, that's it's just a check up, but it still gets me excited. Everything about this process does! I love being pregnant!!!

I felt a flutter! (13w;2d)

"I'm one ounce now (28g), and I'm practising how to breath!"

I don't want to get too excited just in case it was nothing, but driving into work this morning I felt a little 'pop' feeling in my tummy. It wasn't a usual deep internal wind/stomach pop, it felt a lot closer to the skin of my tummy. Almost like the feeling you get when you get a pulse in your arm or your leg and you can feel it for a moment... hard to describe.

Not sure if that was the first movement I've felt, it could be nothing. I will keep my eye out for more though, that's for sure. How EXCITING!!
